Lift off from our private, seaside basecamp and soar over the Tongass National Rainforest and surrounding glaciers while en route to our high-altitude and secluded “Musher’s Camp”, located amongst the jagged peaks of the coastal mountains. This personalized, exclusive tour allows you the experience of life of a professional dog musher, including a deeper learning of the history, lifestyle and techniques of dogsledding, and a more hands-on experience with our sled dogs. The Extended Dogsledding Adventure includes everything available on the Juneau Glacier Dog Tour PLUS extras for those who seek a more personalized, hands-on mushing experience. 

This includes:

  • A behind-the-scenes tour of life at Musher’s Camp
  • Learn and assist with harnessing and booting up your dog team
  • Become a real musher by learning how to drive the sled!
  • A five-mile mush across the glacier with your dog team and guide
  • Learn about the wellness care for each animal
  • Assist in feeding the dogs a snack after their long run across the snow
  • A visit to the crew’s camp for a closer look at the glacier-dog-camp lifestyle
  • Enjoy a light lunch prepared by the camp’s private chef

At a Glance:

  • Enjoy bird’s-eye-views of up to four glaciers and the world’s largest temperate rainforest en route to Musher’s Camp
  • Learn the history and basics of dogsledding from professional Iditarod and Yukon Quest dog racers
  • Mush up to 5 miles across the private, extended trails of the snow-capped Norris glacier
  • Exclusive access to behind-the-scenes areas of the camp, including: dog kennels, cookhouse, crew quarters and the vet clinic
  • Prepare your dogs’ food for the day's journey- harness, boot and brush your team of excitable, friendly huskies
  • To ensure the safety and comfort of all guests, backpacks, purses, iPads/tablets, selfie sticks, drones and other items are not permitted on board. Secure storage is available at the base. Cameras, Go-Pros, and a sense of adventure are welcome and encouraged!
  • Glacier boots are provided
  • Tour operates May 7th - August 31st (subject to change due to snow conditions at Musher’s Camp)
  • Up to 35 minutes of flying time and 2½ hours at Musher’s Camp 

***Due to aircraft limitations, all passengers must provide body weight prior to the day of flight and must weigh-in at the heliport to ensure accurate weight and balance manifesting. Passengers weighing in excess of 240 lbs (109 kgs) will be subject to a $100.00 surcharge. All tours operate subject to minimum passenger requirements and weather limitations; flight routes and landing locations may vary due to weather and terrain conditions.
