Prime Heliskiing in Southeast and Southcentral Alaska
Since entering the heli-ski industry in 2001, NorthStar Helicopters has partnered with numerous operators across Southeast and Southcentral Alaska to offer safe, reliable and efficient services in some of the most extreme terrain on the planet. Our sterling reputation is a reflection of our commitment to both safety and industry best practices.
During our 20-year partnership with Points North Heli-Adventures (PNH) in Cordova, our team has helped to shape the heli-ski industry as a whole and played an integral role in the development of industry standards adopted by Heli Ski US. NorthStar has also created and maintained a pilot training program tailored specifically to the challenges faced while flying heli-ski operations.
With safety being our highest priority, we are intentional about partnering only with operators who share that core value. Our well-trained, hand-picked pilots also understand that efficiency is essential to the success of a heli-ski operation. We place a great emphasis on pilot training which is done in collaboration with heliski guides to better enable us to cater to the needs and desires of the clientele. We believe our high return rate of guests demonstrates that our commitment to fun and safety, consistently offered by our teams, is well received.

Featured in Southeast and Southcentral Alaska are some of the most pristine habitats in the world, offering significant biological diversity and natural resources, which provide a perfect setting for a wide array of recreational opportunities. Our primary operating location lies within the heart of the Chugach Range, residing to the east of Prince William Sound, where mountains jut through ice and snow, exposing harsh peaks sharpened by the flaking and fracturing of history’s relentless freeze-thaw cycles. Mean annual precipitation in this region is within 80” – 280” range, with some high mountains in the astounding 280”-500” range! Some of our favorite spots, including Thompson Pass and the mountains surrounding Cordova, receive over 550 inches of snow each winter, making the Chugach Mountains one of the best and most sought after heli-skiing destinations in the world.
